Governor Andrew Cuomo admits his new gun control law has sparked protest among many in the state.

In an interview with the "New York Post's" Fred Dicker, Cuomo refused to call the new legislation one of the more "divisive" in New York history, but said opponents are "passionate in their opposition."

The governor points to a recent SienaCollege poll that found more than 70 percent of Empire State residents approve of limits on assault weapons.

Passionate doesn't even begin to explain it.
Governor Cuomo - my questions for you are...
Did you know that NY already has overly strict laws, and an archaic handgun permit system that very few other states have?
Did you know that we have a neighboring state called Vermont with the least gun restrictions on the books, but less crime than NYS?
Why are you targeting lawful gun owners, instead of doing the hard work of increasing social and psychological services in public schools, and beefing up warrant squads to go after the hardcore bad guys that commit disproportionate amounts of crime?

Governor Cuomo, you just don't get it. CRIMINALS DON'T Follow the law and its just that simple. Your new law will not do anything to reduce gun violence. Drugs are illegal, plenty of laws for that.....how's that working for you??? So now the criminals will still be using 30 round mags, and we will be defending with our 7 rounders. That's great, your obviously a genius.

Denial of my rights by creating laws which are not fully flushed out without due process definitely sparks my passion. There are a lot of good aspects to the laws such as better background checks but the physical limitations on guns just brings about an overall resistance to some ideas which would have an effect.

One thing I will say is that I will no longer vote for any democratic candidates and I know of many more people who feel this way!
