Education funding is on the increase in New York State.
Governor Cuomo's newly unveiled budget proposal includes$889 million in state aid for education, an increase of 4.4 percent from the previous budget.
That plan includes $110 million ($55 million each) to both the CUNY and SUNY systems that the governor hopes will lead to job growth in local economies.
The increase also includes a move to implement full-day pre-kindergarten and a longer school day and/or year across the state.
