The cost of the Buffalo Sabres' project to transform a parking lot into a facility for the team has jumped nearly 40 percent and carries a new price tag of $170 million.

The development is the most expensive for any privately funded building in City of Buffalo history. The plan calls for two ice rinks and 200 hotel rooms, plus restaurant and retail areas.

HarborCenter is underwritten by Sabres' owner Terry Pegula and his wife, Kim.
