Heading to the emergency room at Rochester-area hospitals will net you a longer wait before being admitted than the rest of the country.
New data from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services show a wait of 11 ½ hours at Strong, 10 hours 22 minutes at Unity, 7 hours 15 minutes at Rochester General and 5 hours 2 minutes at Highland on average.
The national average is just over 4 ½ hours, while the state average in New York is just over 6 hours.
At UMMC in Batavia, the average wait time is under the state average at 4 hours and 48 minutes.
