A local English Setter was a Best of Breed honoree at this year’s Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
Jazzy, owned by Joanne Mistler, was one of two finalists among 25 English setters invited to the competition this year. A male won Best of Breed, but Jazzy earned the Opposite Sex award which is a standard part of the judging process. Westminster is considered the most prestigious dog show in the country and is invitation-only.
Mistler says just getting invited to the show in New York City is a huge honor in itself, let alone winning a ribbon.
“When I got the invite I was just beyond the moon happy because just to be invited…” Mistler said trailing off.
Mistler says she plans to continue showing the breed. Jazzy already has a prospective mate and will go into heat next month.
