The 19-year-old Batavia man allegedly caught in the act of a burglary Jan. 1 on Washington Ave. is now facing seven additional felony burglary charges.

Francis Smith of West Main Street is accused of committing burglaries on River Street, South Main Street, Pearl Street, Madison Avenue and Franklin Street, according to City of Batavia Police.

Smith is being held in Genesee County jail without bail from the Jan. 2 alleged incident.


A 22-year-old Batavia man is jailed without bail after being charged with felony DWI.

Village of LeRoy Police say Eric Halsey of Goade Park was stopped for texting and driving. Following an investigation, Halsey was charged with possession of marijuana and several traffic violations. This alleged incident results in a felony charge for Halsey because he has a DWI conviction in the previous 10 years.

Halsey is scheduled to re-appear in LeRoy Town Court March 18.
