The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious death in the town of Carlton.
Officials say a passer-by in a car noticed the body of a woman lying on the side of the road at Oak Orchard River Road and Clark Mill Road around 7 this morning and called 911.
Investigators believe the woman, believed to be in her mid-50s, died of some type of blunt force trauma. Her identity has not been released by law enforcement.
Police have a person of interest in custody who lives nearby. The house is also being considering a secondary crime scene.
The woman’s body will be taken to the Monroe County medical examiner’s office.
UPDATE: In a press conference this evening, the Orleans County Sheriff's office officials say 61-year-old Frederick Miller is charged wih second-degree murder in the death of 53-year-old Rachel Miller.
They were "housemates" according to police. The body has been sent to the Monroe County medical examiner's office for autopsy and Miller was arraigned today.The Sheriff's Office says the two shared a house along Oak Orchard Road, approximately 150 feet from where her body was found. The report says there was a physical altercation between the two Millers that began inside the residence.
The investigation is continuing by the Orleans County Sheriff's Office and the New York State Police Forensice Identification Unit.
