Governor Cuomo is being called out by a judge over the speed at which he recently pushed through gun-control legislation.

The judge wants to hear from Cuomo and legislative leaders on why it was necessary to expedite passage of the NY SAFE Act in January.

Pro-gun groups have filed suit against the state, saying lawmakers abused their discretion by ramming the legislation through the state Legislature.

New York was the first state to pass legislation placing more restrictions on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines following the December Newtown, Conn., school massacre.
