Several local drinking establishments are in the clear following a detail conducted by City of Batavia Police to check for on-premise alcohol consumption.
In conjunction with GCASA Drug Free Communities Coalition and GCC’s Criminal Justice Program, the detail consisted of persons under the age of 21 attempting to purchase alcohol from establishments selling alcohol for on-premise consumption.
A total of ten establishments were checked during the detail and not one sold alcohol to the underage persons.
A release from the police department states: “The fact that all the establishments involved in the compliance check requested identification and refused to sell alcohol is a tribute to our local establishments, their Management and Employees."
The release did not mention the businesses by name.
