A Darien man accused of driving drunk and who had to be tasered when he tried to run from sheriff’s deputies back in October has been indicted by a Genesee County Grand Jury.

On October 28, 44-year-old Martin Toporczyk was stopped at 5:20 p.m. on Route 20 when he was pulled over for alleged traffic violations. Deputies told him he was going to be arrested for DWI and he took off and was only stopped when a deputy fired a taser at him.

The three-count indictment charges Toporczyk with two class E felony counts of driving while intoxicated meaning this is his second offense within the last 10 years. The indictment also charges him with resisting arrest.
