The Home Visitation Program offered through the Genesee County Office for the Aging is in need of volunteers.
The program helps older adults remain independent and in their homes, while providing them a few hours a week of assistance or even companionship.
“They may just be a friendly visitor, they may do a little light housekeeping, or assist with correspondence," Dorian Ely, Director if the RSVP Volunteer Placement Program at the Office for the Aging, said. "It’s really whatever the individual is looking for for assistance.”
The program is free to adults over 60 years of age. Ely says an influx of clients signing up during the winter months created the need for more volunteers. Visit the Office for the Aging’s website to learn how you can help.
