New York is officially the nation's yogurt capital. Governor Andrew Cuomo says New York has surpassed California as the nation's top producer of yogurt.
Genesee County is part of the yogurt boom.
Alpina Foods is already making yogurt in the Agri-businessPark in the Town of Batavia. Muller-Quaker, a larger yogurt manufacturer, is expected to open later this year. New York produced 692 million pounds of yogurt last year, about 100 million pounds more than in California.
