With LeRoy’s Wiss Hotel demolished, Mayor Greg Rogers wants to see what having a vacant lot feels like before making a decision on the space’s future.
At a village board meeting last night, which our news partner The Batavian covered, Rogers said he wants the community to go six months to adjust to an empty corner at the intersection of Routes 5 & 19. After that, he says he will seek an outside real estate broker to get it appraised and see if there are any suitors.
Rogers says he likes the idea of coming up Lake Street and seeing the steeple of the Presbyterian Church.
Most of the responsibility for determining what happens to the corner will fall on the village and town planning boards. The village owns the property.
