Congressman Chris Collins is in Batavia this afternoon pushing a bill he calls the Main Street Revival Act.
The 27th District Representative says his bill is especially designed to help get small businesses off to a good start. Collins’s bill would defer payment of payroll taxes for one year.
“This is a focus on the entrepreneur at a stage in his start-up where cash is tight, cash is king and a lot of them run out of money and go out of business in their first year because they run out of cash," he said.
Collins’s bill would only apply to so-called HUB zones, areas designated by the Small Business Administration as historically underutilized. Almost all of Batavia would qualify.
