A suspicious package, left under a mailbox, closed down a Batavia parking lot this morning.
Authorities used a State Police robot to determine the package was harmless.
The brown paper wrapped box, measuing about 1-ft. square and 3-in high was located under a mailbox behind M&T Bank.
Batavia Police Officer Eric Hill said police took no chances:
"In this day and age you can never be too careful about anything that looks out of the ordinary. Mosdt people would return packages like this to the Post Office if it wouldn't fit in the mailbox. That's why we were initially suspicious."
The package had a label  indicating the sender was returning the contents to the TV shopping channel QVC. The package contained perfume. The parking lot was closed for 45 minutes.
