You may have noticed some new banners on Main Street in Batavia.
It’s an effort to get more people downtown to shop, play, dine and live. The banners with black and white backgrounds feature the outlines of feet in bright colors with those words. Overall, organizers from the Batavia Business Improvement District are hoping to get, as the banners say, “more feet downtown.”
“The banners themselves represent all the different aspects of downtown from shopping to dining to working to playing," Don Burkel, BID executive director, said. "That’s what we’re hoping to do – set up different programs, whether they be sales programs or events, they’ll be focused around more feet.”
Burkel says BID is hoping it will be an economic driver for all the businesses.
“What we hope is that it will be a unifier and also bring the businesses closer to their customer base.”
