Law enforcement in Livingston County has made an arrest involving the attempted – and unsuccessful -- burglary of prescription drugs at the CVS store in Avon.
32-year-old John Rauchbauer of Avon is charged with first-degree attempted burglary for incident Monday.
He allegedly handed over a note to a pharmacist demanding hydromorphone and oxycotin or he would “start shooting.”
Multiple agencies, including the Department of Environmental Conservation, responded to the scene to assist the Avon Police Department.
However, Rauchbauer allegedly fled the store without obtaining any narcotics.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office says several tips were received over the past couple days that assisted authorities in developing Rauchbauer as a suspect.
He was arrested late last night at a residence in Mt. Morris and remanded to the Livingston County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
