(Update 3:40 p.m.)
Three people have been transported to ECMC after a rear-end collision on Lewiston Rd. at the Thruway overpass.
Shortly before two this afternoon a pick-up truck driving north on Route 63 plowed into the back end of a tractor trailer and got stuck and dragged into a driveway.
Sergeant James Meier of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office explains how it happened.
“(The pick-up) attempted to pass a couple of other vehicles as the tractor trailer was pulling into the driveway. He [the driver] was unable to stop before he struck the tractor trailer from the rear end.”
Authorities are uncertain how many vehicles the driver was attempting to pass.
There were four occupants in the pick-up. The driver was trapped and later taken by Mercy Flight. Two other passengers were also taken to the hospital by ambulance.
“I was told (the driver's) injuries are not major. He’s very fortunate. The entire interior compartment (of the car) was in his lap.”
Sgt. Meier says charges are pending.
