The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office arrests a driver in Geneseo who allegedly stole a rental car from a Hertz near Utica.

32-year-old Walter Tyson Jr. of Cold Brook, New York is charged with criminal possession of stolen property, aggravated unlicensed operation and several other vehicle and traffic violations.

The Sheriff’s Office says the license plate reader on the patrol vehicle the deputy was driving alerted him to a suspected stolen vehicle which led to the traffic stop.

Tyson Jr. was jailed on $7,500 bail.


A LeRoy man is arrested for felony DWI twice in one day within a four-hour period.

35-year-old Charles O’Shea of East Main Street, LeRoy, is also facing two counts of aggravated unlicensed operation and other charges.

The second arrest came just before 9 p.m. Saturday on Route 19 in LeRoy where a Deputy observed O’Shea driving and knew from a previous arrest that O’Shea allegedly had his driving privileges revoked. O’Shea was also arrested for felony DWI at the Vans Warped Tour concert at Darien Lake.

O’Shea was remanded to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.


A car accident on Fox Tail Road in the Town of Darien yesterday leads to a DWI charge for a 17-year-old from West Seneca.

Norman Locher is also charged with not wearing a seatbelt and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

The Sheriff’s Office says a passenger riding in the back of a pickup truck at around 1a.m. Sunday suffered a head injury after he or she fell out of the moving vehicle and was taken by ground ambulance to UMMC.

Locher was issued an appearance ticket for August 6.
