A Batavia man involved in several burglaries faces eight to 16 years in prison after reaching a plea agreement this morning in county court.

Samuel Malone pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree burglary and one count of attempted burglary in the third degree -- all felonies. The last count is connected to the attempted break-in at the former Ponderosa steakhouse in 2008.

Malone’s DNA evidence was indicted in December as the statute of limitations was running out on the burglaries. He was convicted for a felony in another county which allowed authorities to make the connection.

Malone is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 7.
