A dispute over trees has led to the arrest of the LeRoy town supervisor on a harassment charge.
Supervisor Stephen Barbeau was arrested for second degree harassment, a violation.
According to police, Barbeau got into a flap with adjacent property owner Peter McQuillen. McQuillen was cutting trees and one reportedly fell onto Barbeau’s property.
Barbeau then allegedly pushed McQuillen, who fell to the ground and injured his shoulder.
There has been bad blood between the two men for some time.
Barbeau was arraigned in LeRoy Town Court and released on his own recognizance. Town Justice Daryl Sehm ordered Barbeau to stay away from McQuillen.
A Batavia man is facing 8 to 16 years in state prison after admitting to a series of burglaries, some dating back to 2008.
27-year-old Samuel Malone was arrested after prosecutors indicted his DNA found at the scene of one of the break-ins.
Police didn’t know whose DNA is was until Malone was convicted of a felony in another county.
Malone entered his plea yesterday in Genesee County Court. He said he is now living in a rehab facility.
He’ll be sentenced in November.
A 24-year-old Attica resident, with three prior drunk driving arrests, is charged with a felony drunk driving charge after he allegedly crashed into two parked cars.
Ryan Eddy of East Avenue was jailed on 10-thousand dollars bail.
Police say Eddy struck two parked cars on Buffalo Street in Attica over the weekend.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged.
President Barack Obama is planning a Western New York visit for next week.
The president is planning a two day bus tour through upstate New York and Pennsylvania, with stops tentatively scheduled in Syracuse, Binghamton and Buffalo.
Obama last visited the region in 2010, when he made appearances in the Buffalo area.
The Buffalo Bills and the NFL have announced some new stadium changes designed to improve the fan experience.
The team says zippered seat cushions and large women's purses are no longer allowed.
In addition, the team is also seeking to stop excessive drinking in the parking lots before games, and smoking is banned near entry gates.
