The President of the United States is coming to Batavia today.
The Presidential motorcade is expected to zoom through the Town of Batavia along the New York State Thruway sometime this afternoon.
President Obama is due to arrive in Western New York late this morning.
Air Force One is expected to touch down just before 10:30 at Buffalo International.
The President then travels to UB’s North Campus in Amherst for 11 a.m. speech on Education.
There is some extra time in the President’s schedule so it is hard to predict just when he’ll be passing through here.
His second official stop is in Syracuse at 6 tonight.
The Thruway Authority is asking drivers to remain flexible with traffic changes, and unexpected closures during the president’s bus tour.
Tickets to see President Obama speak at the University at Buffalo today are going for as high as one-thousand dollars on Craigslist.
On Tuesday, more than 1,500 tickets were given away to the public for free.
An Attica Correctional Facility officer was seriously injured when attacked by an inmate.
It happened late yesterday afternoon as inmates were receiving medications.
The union representing the officers released details of the incident.
They say the officer was monitoring the inmates taking their meds when one of them punched the officer so hard the officer was knocked out.
The unidentified officer was airlifted to ECMC in Buffalo.
Two other officers were injured and taken to UMMC in Batavia.
One of those officers suffered a human bite.
A note for motorists:
The City of Batavia has announced that planned paving along Richmond Avenue has been cancelled for today and re-scheduled for tomorrow.
Expect delays on Richmond between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. tomorrow, between Oak St. and State St.
