Western New York and the Finger Lakes Region are leading Upstate New York in manufacturing employment in the private sector, according to a new report out from the State Comptroller’s office.
And while machinery manufacturing employment has slipped in the past few years, computer and electronic product manufacturing is growing by leaps and bounds.
Here in Batavia, Paramount Computing Associates has been able to grab a big share of that market. Paramount creates software for large corporations like Xerox and General Electric.
Paramount’s President and CEO, Pierluigi Cipollone, says big clients make for big growth – even through a recession. And though agricultural Genesee County might not seem ideal for a computer business, Cipollone says it really is.
Paramount Computing Associates offices are located in the Batavia Industrial Center on Harvester Avenue.
According to the comptroller’s office report, computer and electronic product manufacturing will likely be New York’s number one industry by 2013.
