Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration say car crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 13, but many are preventable. That’s because the data indicates one out of four parents does not properly use child restraints.
This week is National Child Passenger Safety Week. The City of Batavia Fire Department and the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting child safety seat checks tomorrow at Tops in Batavia from 9 a.m. to noon.
Certified technicians will be available to make sure restraints are properly installed and answer any questions.
If you can make it tomorrow, there is another child safety seat check scheduled for next Saturday the 28th at Batavia’s Original Pizzeria.
