A nine year old Corfu girl is in guarded condition this morning at Strong Hospital following a two vehicle crash in Oakfield that injured a total oif five people.
Samantha Davis of Pratt Road was riding in a car driven by her mother yesterday afternoon along Lewiston Road in Oakfield.
Deputies say the driver, Christine Davis, failed to yield the right of way to a pick-up truck. The two vehicles collided at the intersection of Lewiston and Albion Road.
Samantha was taken to Strong by Mercy Flight and is listed in guarded condition. Her mother, Christine, is at the same hospital in satisfactory condition.
The driver and two passengers kint he pick-up were treated for minor injuries at UMMC.
Three correction officers are injured following a violent weekend at the Wyoming Correctional Facility in Attica. Officials say an inmate at the medium security prison struck an officer from behind, leaving the guard with a concussion. A responding officer suffered a back injury while trying to subdue the suspect and another suffered a head injury and seizure after the inmate stepped into his path and he fell.
A cashier at the Batavia Walmart has been arrested for allegedly helping herself to more than a thousand dollars from the registers.
22-year-old Samantha Roberts of Vine Street in Batavia is charged with Grand Larceny.
Deputies say Samantha stole $1,072 while working at the store.
She was given a court appearance ticket
Batavia City Council gets an update tonight on the city’s financial health.
The city ended its last fiscal year at $1.3-million in then black.
The city has received proposals from 10 consultants to study the need for a new police station.
The current one, on Main Street, is over 100 years old.
Council is slated to discuss the study during its conference meeting tonight.
Senator Chuck Schumer is calling for a crackdown on the form of the drug ecstasy called Molly. The drug caused the death of a young man from the town of Greece at an electric music festival in New York City last month. Schumer is promoting a bill that would allow the federal government to ban chemicals used to create the drug. An autopsy revealed that 23-year-old Jeffrey Russ of Greece died from an overdose of the drug.
