State Police arrest two Oakfield men for shoplifting copper pipe from the Batavia Home Depot store.
The investigation revealed that Roy Hooten, 52, of Oakfield, NY distracted a store employee while Robert Peachey, 30, also of Oakfield, NY walked out of the store with a large amount of cooper piping. The subjects then left the scene, however, Peachey accidently left his wallet at the store, he parked the vehicle and walked back retrieve it.
Peachey was seen by store employees who pointed him out to the Trooper who then stopped Peachey for questioning. Hooten was located in the parking lot and also questioned. A search for the subject’s vehicle was conducted and located with the proceeds of the larceny inside.
Robert Peachey was arrested for, grand larceny 4th, an E Felony, and conspiracy 5th, an A Misdemeanor. Peachey was also found to be in position of a controlled substance and was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, an A Misdemeanor.
Peachey was arraigned in the Town of Batavia, Town Court and remanded to Genesee County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail, and is scheduled to re-appear before the Town Court on October 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM.
Roy Hooten was arrested for, Conspiracy 5th, an A Misdemeanor and issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Batavia, Town Court on September 30, 2013 at 1:00 PM.
