Batavia will have two Tim Hortons locations: one downtown and a new one in the Town of Batavia on Lewiston Road near Colonial Boulevard.
The planning board officially approved the site plans Tuesday night.
Chair Kathleen Jasinski says the board is always looking to expand opportunities for the town.
“Benderson Development bought the property; they wanted to develop it," she said, "and we made sure they developed it within our guidelines and for the best of the community.”
A couple of residents had expressed reservations over traffic issues near their property, but Jasinski says they took everything into consideration.
“We worked on it all summer long and we’ve worked out the best arrangement for the safety of the people and for Tim Hortons," she said.
The plans include a nearly 2,000 square-foot facility with an outdoor patio and a drive-thru as well as additional retail space for up to three tenants. There will be access from both Lewiston and Colonial.
A vacant building will have to be demolished before construction can begin.
