The new president of the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce has been formally introduced.

Tom Turnbull – who spent the last 38 years at the Daily News, also serving as publisher – had his first day on the job Monday and was formally introduced at a mixer at Terry Hills.

He says he’s excited for a new challenge with a great organization.

“Our chamber is one of the best-run chambers in the state – that was one of the things that excited me about taking this job,” he said. “The way I look at it is I’m just going to take the baton and keep on running.”

The chamber has around 600 members and provides training for small businesses, represents business to elected leaders and offers networking opportunities for business owners and employees.

Turnbull replaces Lynn Freeman who retired.
