The Town of Bethany spoke and New York State listened.

The Department of Transportation says it is no longer considering a roundabout for Suicide Corners- the intersection of Route 20 and East Road.
About 50 residents attended a public hearing back in September voicing almost unanimous opposition to the project that was estimated to cost two and a half million dollars. 
The intersection has been the site of 37 accidents since 1998, three of them fatal.

An 18-year-old has been arrested on a charge of Criminally Negligent Homicide in connection with a fatal accident in Livingston County.
Nathan Poddany was driving his pick-up truck on White Road in the Town of Ossian back on August 18th when he lost control of the vehicle, rolled over and struck several trees.
A passenger in Poddany’s truck, 16-year-old Connor Gilbert, was killed.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office said Poddany is also charged with unlawfully dealing with a child in a separate but related incident.

A High Wind Warning has been issued for Genesee County and all of Western New York for this Halloween.
The warning officially takes effect at 11p.m. tonight and continues to 5a.m tomorrow. 
The "Trick or Treaters" should be off the street before the winds really pick-up.
Winds are forecast out of the southwest from 30 to 40 miles per hour, with gusts to 60.

An Elba woman found herself in jail for allegedly boosting a cookware set from Wal-Mart.
37-year-old Danielle Stevens was charged with Petit Larceny.
Deputies say Stevens drove to Wal-mart in an unregistered car with a suspended license.

Western Regional Off-Track Betting which owns and operates Batavia Downs Gaming is pledging its support to Proposition One on Tuesday’s ballot.
The referendum would allow for expansion of casino gaming in New York State.
Supporters of Proposition One say it would generate millions of dollars for education and local governments, not to mention jobs.
Opponents claim Prop 1 targets vulnerable people who can’t afford to succumb to frequent gambling.
