The charges against three Rochester men accused of stealing about $2,126 in merchandise from Batavia’s Wal-Mart store have been upgraded.

Eric Strong, 53, Michael Dawson, 50, and Keith Brantley, 43, were arrested Oct. 17 and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny.

However, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office says that a closer look at store surveillance video by a loss prevention officer showed that the same three men had stolen $947 worth of merchandise two days before their arrest on Oct. 15.

The felony grand larceny charges have been upgraded to the third-degree.

Strong was also charged with petit larceny for allegedly stealing $243 worth of merchandise on Oct. 1.

All three were arraigned and continued held without bail. Their next court appearance is Nov. 25.
