It is Veterans Day, an official federal Holiday.
It is the day recognized as the end of the war to end all wars.
Sadly, that would not be the case.
Veterans Day traces it beginning to the end of hostilities in Europe in World War I.
An armistice between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect at the 11th hour of the 11th day or the 11th month.
It is unlike other federal holidays that are observed on Monday.
By law, Veterans Day will always be observed on November 11th… regardless of the day of the week. This year it just happens to fall on a Monday.
All schools, banks, governments buildings are closed today and there will be no mail delivery.
Most retail stores: wide open.
There are a number of Veterans Day observances in the area. For a list click HERE.
