New York is not planning to reoffer cancelled health plans if they don’t adhere to the Affordable Care Act.
Many people are losing their private insurance plans because they don’t meet the requirements of ACA. President Obama offered the possibility to keep cancelled health insurance plans for one year.
New York officials say the state is weighing offering that same option, but don’t see the need at this time. That’s because its separate health insurance exchange website -- New York State of Health -- has been successful with enrollment, especially compared to the federal one.
Almost 50,000 New Yorkers have enrolled in the state’s health care exchange and another 200,000 have finished the application process to get insurance.
