Two Batavia schools were closed today, but it wasn’t because of the weather.
Jackson Primary and John Kennedy Intermediate Schools in Batavia were closed today due to power and heating issues.
“We had an issue with our boiler room,” Superintendent Chris Dailey said, “where a pressure valve did not release and thus we had a flood in there that made it unsafe to open the school. We had to shut the power off.”
Dailey updated the situation this afternoon. He says John Kennedy will be closed tomorrow with the ongoing power issues. Jackson Primary will reopen tomorrow.
Elsewhere in the area, Attica Central Schools and the Wyoming Central School District were closed due to the weather.
In other school cancellations due to weather today…
- All afternoon and evening activities at Alexander Central Schools are cancelled. That includes a girls basketball game against Byron-Bergen.
- GCC Warsaw location closed after 4 p.m. today
