The weather has two local districts today:
Attica Central and Wyoming Central Schools are closed today due to the weather but all Batavia City Schools are open today and that includes John Kennedy Intermediate.
John Kennedy had been closed for two days due to a heating problem.
Only Attica and Wyoming Central schools are closed.
The Batavia City School district has announced a public hearing will be held this Tuesday prior to the start of the regular meeting of the board of education at 7. It’s to discuss expending funds from the Repair Reserve to replace and repair equipment in boiler room at John Kennedy’s building.
A Genesee County Court jury is now deliberating the fate of Earl Sprague, accused of molesting two children and then trying to kill witnesses against him.
The 42-year –old Sprague, originally from the Town of Alabama, is facing 28 counts of sexual abuse and first degree criminal solicitation.
The jury received the case around lunch time yesterday and continued deliberating late into the afternoon.
Deliberations will continue this morning.
Two Wyoming County teenage inmates are facing felony burglary and grand larceny charges.
19-year-olds Tyler Carpenter of Portageville and James Erb of Castile are accused of burglarizing a cabin in the Town of Genesee Falls in April and stealing a gun and other hunting items.
Both are locked up in the Livingston County Jail on unrelated charges.
State Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing Basom woman.
49-year-old Joy Howard was last seen Monday at about 11:30 in the morning at the M&T Bank in Clarence.
Troopers say she might be in the company of 51-year-old William Caspen.
They are believed to be traveling in a 2012 black Ford Fusion with NY plates.
Anyone with information is asked to call State Police in Batavia.
