Freezing rain overnight has caused problems in the Genseee Country with trees down and power outages. The biggest power outage occurred in the East side of Batavia, the east side of the town of Batavia and parts of the Town of Stafford where the freezing rain caused some transformer problems. At the height some 2100 national grid customers were affected. County wide some 45 hundred customers are with out power or have been without power. Currently those outages are in Corfu, Stafford, Elba, Alabama Pembroke, the Town and City of Batavia according to the National Grid website map. The biggest outage continues to be in the Town of Stafford where 836 customers are affected.
Main roads are wet; side roads can be a bit icy. Caution is advised to drivers.

The forecast for today is calling for warmer temperatures and periods of rain.  The high will be 48.  No major snow is in the forecast through Christmas.    

 A flood warning continues in effect for the Tonawanda Creek here in Batavia, and at the Rapids in Niagara County.  As of this morning, the Creek was at 10.47 feet.  Flood stage is a 9 feet.  This level is expected to cause moderate flooding.  Also a special weather statement has been issued calling for light freezing rain through this morning

One person is reported dead in a car-tractor trailer truck accident on route 63 this morning near the intersection with the Shepard Road in the Town of Batavia. The victim is identified as 29 year old John Dow of Pavilion. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner. Sheriff’s deputies say Dow’s southbound car crossed over the center line and struck the tractor trailer truck head on. The driver of the truck, 25 year old Iqbal Dhadda of Brampton, Ontario, Canada was not injured. Deputies say impairment may have been involved in the accident as well as failure to keep right by Dow. The accident occurred at 1:42 this morning and caused route 63 to be closed until about 7:30 this morning. The accident is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department.

A LeRoy man has been charged with felony-DWI following a accident on the Lake Road in the town of LeRoy Friday night. 29 year old Aaron Matthew Zastrocky of Mill Street in LeRoy was also charged with making an unsafe lane change, speed unreasonable because of special hazardous conditions, and no seat belt.  The Felony DWI charge was issued as Zastrocky has a previous DWI conviction within the last 10 years.

25 year old Joshua Quaintance of the Byron Road in Byron has been charged with criminal mischief.  He was arrested after allegedly punching out a window of an automobile in Byron. A LeRoy man has been charged with felony-DWI following a accident on the Lake Road in the town of LeRoy Friday night. 29 year old Aaron Matthew Zastrocky of Mill Street in LeRoy was also charged with making an unsafe lane change, speed unreasonable because of special hazardous conditions, and no seat belt.
