Convicted murderer Scott Doll of Corfu has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.
Judge Robert Noonan imposed the minimum sentence this morning in Genesee County Court. Doll had been found guilty of the brutal beating murder of Joseph Benaquist.
In court today, Doll maintained his innocence while expressing anger at prosecuting District Attorney Lawrence Friedman. WBTA’s microphone was allowed inside the courtroom:

Judge Robert Noonan could have imposed the maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison. But he said in court that he could not bring himself to do so.

Outside the courtroom, defense attorney Paul Cambria said he appreciates the judge’s compassion. Cambria says he’ll appeal the sentence, citing the fact that Doll was never allowed an attorney the night of the crime.
