A Wyoming County home is a total loss after fire rips through its walls.
Flames broke out at the home of Richard Schlenker in the Town of Bennington early yesterday morning. Nearly a dozen volunteer fire companies responded to the blaze for six hours before 3:30 a.m. on Route 354.
Authorities say Schlenker suffered some minor burns which were treated at the scene. He is staying with family.
Authorities say the extreme cold temperatures caused problems with the water supply for firefighters. They dealt with frozen pumps and frozen hose lines.
The cause is under investigation. The damage tab was pegged at more than 200-thousand dollars.
