Charges are pending against a 23-year-old Batavia man after a one-car accident this weekend sent him to the hospital.

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office says a 2013 Chevy was driven by Douglas Hanley of Batavia-Stafford Townline Road was traveling northbound on Fargo Road near Route 5 in Stafford.

Hanley allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and proceeded though the Route 5 intersection. Deputies say he traveled off the east shoulder and collided with an embankment and then struck a tree.

The passenger, 59-year-old Frances Hanley, was not hurt.

Douglas was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with complaints of abdomen pain. He was listed in satisfactory condition as of Monday morning.
