The Genesee County area got another 2 inches of snow over night, just enough to make the roads a bit slippery. More snow is expected after eight o’clock this morning, but less than a half inch of snow is expected. It will be cloudy today with a high of 28, a bit better than recent days. It has been about 12 days since temperatures went over the 32 degree mark. The last day the mercury climbed above the 32 mark was Sunday, February 2nd. Yesterday the high temperature was 27 degrees and the low was 12 in Batavia.
One person was taken to UMMC after a four car accident near the intersection of Route 98 and Federal Drive in the Town of Batavia. An unidentified female was taken to UMMC with complains of neck and lower back pain. Two other persons were treated at the scene. Authorities say the accident was a rear-end chain reaction crash.
State Police are looking for a dark colored pickup truck wanted in connection with a burglary on route 77 in Alabama. Guns were reportedly stolen in the burglary. State Police have been advised by the Orleans County dispatch of a possible related burglary in Orleans County. Fire and Police communication equipment were taken in the Orleans County burglary. The vehicle is described as an S-10 type of pickup truck, dark in color, with a loud exhaust.
Three persons were arrested in raids of two homes on Church Street in Medina on Wednesday. Cocaine, heroin, guns, pills, and a variation of a drug known as bath salts were confiscated in the raids. In addition thousands of pirated DVD movie videos and counterfeit merchandise was confiscated in a raid on the Biz Nest clothing store on Main Street in Albion. The three are identified as 28 year old Brenton Pool and 34 year old Erika Pool both of the same Church Street address. 26 year old Norman Bloom Junior with a different Church Street address was also charged. According to Orleans County Drug Task Force, the Poole’s own the Biz Nest.
Batavia Police and State Police teamed up to arrest 25 year old Michele Difalco of West Main Street in Batavia on a charge of possession of a hypodermic instrument. Difalco was arrested at her home after it was discovered she had the hypodermic needles. She was issued an appearance ticket.
26 year old Dustin Fleming of the Telephone Road in LeRoy has been charged unlawful possession of Marijuana. Flemming was arrested at Denny’s Restaurant on West Main Street after the complaint of an intoxicated male. When police arrived they found Fleming to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and a glass marijuana pipe. He was issued an appearance ticket.
