It is that time of the year again. Daylight Savings time is now in effect for most of the United States. You should already was set your clocks ahead one hour. Daylight Savings time will remain in effect until the first Sunday in November. It is observed in all the states except for Arizona and Hawaii.
It will be colder today than yesterday in the Genesee Country. It is expected to become windy and colder with a mix of clouds and sunshine today. The high is expected to be about 30. Yesterday Batavia recorded a high temperature of 34 and a low of 25. Overnight the mercury dipped to 13 at the Buffalo International Airport.
A Batavia man is behind bars today on a charge of menacing with a weapon. Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies say that 28 year old Johnny Troche of West Main Street Road in the Town of Batavia allegedly threatened to harm an individual with a knife. Troche went to jail in lieu of 15 thousand dollar cash bail or 30 thousand dollar bond. The incident happened last night at a residence on West Main Street Road.
37 year old Francisco Rodriguez of Portland Avenue in Rochester was arrested after a traffic stop on Lewiston Road in the Town of Batavia last night. Rodriguez was stopped for failing to dim his high beams. During the stop a quantity of untaxed cigarettes was found in his vehicle. Rodriguez has been charged with Possession of Untaxed Cigarettes and will appear in Batavia Town Court on March 31st to answer the charges.
52 year old Brian Smith of Colonial Boulevard in Batavia is in jail on charges of Criminal Contempt and for an Aggravated Family Offense. Smith was arrested for yelling a vulgar word at the victim who is a protected person in a stay away order of protection. Smith allegedly yelled the word to the victim while she was in her own driveway.
Batavia Police arrested a Corfu woman on warrants issued for ignoring an active arrest warrant while she was walking on West Main Street . 27 year old Crhistiana Colantonio of Snipery Road in Corfu was charged with failing to appear and was released on 500 dollars cash bond.
37 year old Christiana Baudanza, no address given, was arrested on an arrest warrant for a violation of the Family Court Act. The arrest came after Baudanza was released from the Wyoming County Hospital.
An Attica woman is behind bars on charges of Petit Larceny and Possession of Marijuana. 20 year old Katie Winnie of Exchange Street in Attica was arrested after she failed to appear for her court date in the Town of Batavia Court and a bench warrant was issued. Bail is set at 500 dollars.
Lockport Police are asking anyone with information regarding the death of a woman on Niagara Street in Lockport to come forward. Officers are investigating the death of a female following a call they received just before 8 p.m. Friday night. Detectives are conducting interviews with people in the area to determine cause of death and the Police Department says more information will be provided as the situation develops. Police would not say if the death is suspicious but say at this point it is not being investigated as a homicide. Anyone with information is asked to call the Lockport Police at 716-433-7700.
