Tom Lewin is finally cleaning up his property in Downtown Batavia. The owner of the former Latina’s Grocery has hired pest control company Pest R-X to get rid of the gulls that reside on his building’s roof.
But it doesn’t mean that the property is no longer condemned. Batavia City Manager Jason Molino says the city is still taking a hard line against Lewin.
"Put it in the context of any other code enforcement violation," says Molino. "We want to see compliance with the code. So if the property agent continues to make important strides to make the property compliant, then we'll continue to work with the property owner. But until that happens, it's still their responsibility to maintain their property."
Tom Lewin and managing partners in his company, LKLWL Properties of Snyder, are due in City Court on Friday.
