With temperatures near the 70s upcoming this weekend, the City of Batavia is preparing for spring.
“We are busy. We’re out there getting things spruced up and ready for the former weather,” City Public Works Director Sally Kuzon said.
The list to beautify the city after a cold, harsh, dreary winter is a long one for Kuzon’s staff.
“Currently we’re putting out the benches along Main Street,” Kuzon said. “You’ll notice we’re cleaning out the flower beds and getting them ready for mulch and flowers when the weather gets warmer. We’re cleaning the sidewalks and also the parking lots and getting everything ready for the banners to go up on the light poles.”
Those are the big priorities this early on. There’s also park clean-up and large branch removal across the city. Also, the yard waste station is now open and will operate six days a week except Sundays.
