A Corfu man is accused of having sexual contact with a child under the age of 13.
State Police arrested 62-year-old Jackie Taft on a charge of Course of Sexual Conduct against a Child in the second degree.
State Police say an investigation along with Steuben County Child Protective Services revealed that Taft allegedly had sexual contact with the child at least 10 times over a one-year period. Troopers say Taft gained access to the Steuben County child through multiple visits with the family.
Taft was indicted in Wyoming County in 1979 and again in 1984 on charges he committed sex crimes against a child under the age of 11.
The first case resulted in a guilty plea to a felony charge and five years probation. The 1984 case was disposed of in county family court, according to our news partner, The Batavian.
Since those arrests preceded the sex offender registry system, Taft never had to register as one.
Taft was jailed in Town of Campbell Court on 50-thousand dollars cash bail.
