The body of a missing woman found in Orleans County 30 years ago has been identified.

Shari Lynne Ball was reported missing by her family in Palm Beach County, Florida in June 1983. A hunter discovered her "severely" decomposed body off the shoulder of State Route 63 several months later.

State Police say Shari told her family she was going to New York to begin a modeling career.

In October 2013 there was a break in the cold case. Several agencies worked to get the body exhumed. A DNA database match was made with a family member who entered the it several years ago in the hopes of someday finding Shari.

Shari was 20 years old when she went missing. She was also known to use the name Timmerman.

The cause of death is still undetermined and troopers believe foul play may be involved.
State Police is working on this cold case with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and asking anyone who knew Shari Ball or has information about her to call State Police.

On April 11th, in Lockport, NY , my girlfriend and i were holding a yard sale. A man pulled up in an orange mercury cougar-he showed us his business card-it read Christopher Wilder, professional photographer. He was very calm and soft spoken and well dressed. He told us he did modeling portfolios. He went on to say he knew a family in Lockport., the Kenyon family, that he was friends withtheir daughter Elizabeth Kenyon-and had been at the Kenyon Variety store in Lockport and at their homesmore than once in Lockport and in Florida. Neither my friend nor i had a car available-and that seemed to make him lose interest immediately-plus we both had little children running around the yard sale. For some reason-we had not seen a photo of Wilder, nor knew of FBI looking for him in disappearance of Elizabeth Kenyon. So, we were totally unaware of who this man was!
I truly now believe Shari Lyn Ball-was a victim of Christopher Wilder. She had stated she was going to NY-from Florida(where Wilder lived-and recruited young girls for modeling jobs-then abducted and killed them-and,later found),for a modeling job in June 1983. Wilder was in Florida at that time, and seeing Elizabeth Kenyon-though right around that time she broke up with him-yet they still saw each other as friends., and i have no doubt Wilder may have come up to NY to see Kenyon family. He seemed very familar with the wny area-told me he'd been to Niagara Falls and taken pics before he came into Lockport.
The MO with Shari Ball-fits Wilder- and how he found his victims, lured them, killed them, and disposed of their bodies.

Christopher Bernard Wilder, also known as the beauty queen killer because all his victims were young and beautiful (13 March 1945 – 13 April 1984), a serial killer who abducted and raped at least twelve women and killed at least eight of them during a six-week cross-country spree in the United States in early 1984. He is suspected in the disapearance of Elizabeth Kenyon-last seen with Wilder in Florida in March 1984.
His rampage began in Florida on February 26, 1984, and continued across the country through Texas, Oklahoma, Nevada, California and New York before he died during a struggle with police in New Hampshire on April 13, 1984. In April 1984 Wilder was due for a court date in Austrailia-for two attacks on young women there. He was a strong suspect in the unsolved Wanda Beach murders there.
He is also believed to have raped two girls aged 10 and 12 in Florida during 1983.If he could be placed by possibly the Kenyon family as being in wny in June 1983-the coicidences to Shari Lynne Ball's dosapearance-then would be overwhelming to other victims of Wilder's-
If Wilder killed Shari Lynne Ball, if this could be connected to him, it would certainly bring a certain closure to Shari Lynne Ball's family.
To think that i stood within a foot of this man April 11th, 1984, in Lockport, NY, talking to him at my yard sale, just a block away from the Kenyon family's store. 2 days later, on Friday the 13th, Wilder was dead-by his own hand-reason i remember the dates!
