UPDATE: Both David and Nancy Patrick were both taken to Strong Memorial, Genesee County Sheriff's Deoputies said today. Both are listed in "guarded" condition, deputies said.
A Wyoming County couple was seriously injured when the motorcycle they were riding went out of control on Route 5 in the Town of Batavia.
Deputies say a deer ran into the rear of the motorcycle yesterday afternoon causing the machine to crash.
The motorcycle was driven by 63-year-old David Patrick of Birchwood Acres in Perry. His 58-year-old wife Nancy was a passenger.
Mercy Flight flew David to ECMC; a second Mercy Flight helicopter took Nancy to Strong Memorial. Their conditions are unavailable this morning. Deputies said the two were wearing helmets but were unconscious at the scene. Pictures from the accident HERE.
18 suspected stolen weapons are off the streets of Wyoming County following the arrests of two men in Java.
22-year-old Travis Cook and 21-year-old Daniel Lewandowksi, both of Arcade, are facing two counts each of Felony Criminal Mischief.
The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department reports the two were allegedly shooting parked vehicles at Java Lake with a sawed-off shotgun on Sunday morning. Windows were shot out on at least 2 cars.
A follow-up investigation at Lewandowski’s home found 17 additional weapons reported from the Wyoming Gun Shop.
With the state budget more than four-months late, Governor David Paterson is again seeking layoffs to close the state's budget gap.
The governor's latest budget proposal calls for $250-million in reductions to the state work force. Governor Paterson believes a no-layoff pledge signed last year is non-binding because the state is not receiving federal stimulus dollars for Medicaid.
But the Civil Service Employees Association says Paterson is bound by an agreement not to layoff state workers until January 1st, at the earliest.
Yahoo will cut the ribbon on its new data center in the Town of Lockport in September. It's just the first phase of a 150-million dollar project. The second phase is under construction. For a short time, Genesee County was in the running as a location for that project.
