A former part-time Village of Perry police officer is facing possible prison time after pleading guilty to criminally negligent homicide in the death of his son.
Michael Leach shot and killed his son Matthew at a Herkimer County hotel room.
Leach, also a retired Rochester Police captain, told investigators that he thought his son was an intruder when he opened fire in July of 2012.
Michael Leach will be sentenced by a Herkimer County Court judge in August.
A Batavia man is sent to jail following a domestic dispute.
Batavia Police charged 23 year old Dwayne Pearsall of Washington Avenue with harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. Police say the dispute occurred in front of Pearsall’s young daughter.
The number of primary care physicians in Western New York is plummeting. Senator Chuck Schumer says there are currently 57 primary care physicians for every 100-thousand residents in Western New York. That's a 23-percent decline since 2010. Schumer says 80 physicians per 100-thousand residents would be an adequate number.
Buffalo Bills defensive end Jerry Hughes is admitting that he was involved a drag race that ended with Marcell Darius crashing into a tree. Hughes admits no wrongdoing but confirms that he was driving, saying he cannot comment further because of the police investigation. Darius ran away after crashing his Jaguar into a tree last Friday, but was later arrested on misdemeanor charges.
The Buffalo Bills have announced their training camp schedule for this summer.
It kicks off Sunday July 20th at St. John Fisher College with a night practice.
There are 20 dates in total including 7 night practices which do require a ticket.
