Notre Dame will play for a trip to the New York State Class D Baseball Final Four this afternoon.
After breezing through the Section V tournament, the Fighting Irish will square off against Section VI winner North Collins this afternoon at Diethrick Park in Jamestown.
Notre Dame has won 10 sectional titles since 1979 and 4 since 2002, but they have only moved past the regional finals once, and that was in 2008.
The Eagles have dominated opponents during their sectional run, outscoring them 28-1, but they have only defeated one team with a winning record all season.
Senior ace Alec Covel will get the start on the mound for the Irish, where he has a 4-1 record with 62 strikeouts and a 0.92 ERA. He also has victories over Fillmore and Arkport in sectional play.
The Fighting Irish come in to the Far West Regional after pounding Class D champion Whitesville, 14-3, on Tuesday.
Notre Dame (15-3) has not lost since May 3rd. and is currently riding a 10-game winning streak.
North Collins (12-8) has defeated Sherman and dominated Ellicottville 17-0 (after losing to the same team twice this season), before defeating Brocton in the Section VI finals.
First pitch will take place at 4 p.m.
