New Yorkers will now have access to medical marijuana under an agreement between legislative leaders and Governor Andrew Cuomo.  However, people who are allowed access to medical marijuana will not be able to smoke it.  They will be able to ingest marijuana through vaporization, oils or a pill, but not through smoking.  Bill supporters say that clause was the only way Cuomo would agree to the measure.

The cab of a tractor-trailer burst in flame last night on Allegany Road near the thruway entrance in Pembroke.
No one was hurt. Flames from the vehicle shot 14 feet into the air.
State Police said about 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the road.

A Walnut Street man is behind bars for allegedly stalking a person he was ordered by the court to stay away from.
53 year old James Sweet is charged with three counts of criminal contempt. Genesee County deputies say Sweet violated an order of protection on several occasions. He was jailed in lieu of one-thousand dollars bail.

The Downtown Batavia FARMACY is officially open for business.
It’s the new name of the new Batavia Public Market that opened for yesterday.
It also has a new location: the parking lot at Bank Street and Alva Place across from the Jerome Center.
The Farmacy will be open every Thursday from 9 to 3:30 p.m. through September.

Batavia Fire Chief Jim Maxwell is honored as Fire Chief of the Year in New York State. 
The award presented by the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs.
The award recognizes exemplary leadership, innovation, integrity and service to the public.
Maxwell joined the Batavia Fire Department four years ago.

Four people are injured following a crash in Albion that State Police say was caused by a drunk driver.  Police say William Kuyal ran a stop sign and slammed into a car, leaving two female occupants with minor injuries. 
Kuyal suffered broken ribs in the crash, and his passenger Dudley Kuyal is hospitalized in guarded condition with extensive injuries.  William Kuyal is charged with DWI, failure to yield and running a stop sign. 

The driver of a car is dead following a two vehicle crash in the town of Alden. 
The crash occurred yesterday morning at the corner of Country Line and North roads.  The victim was taken by helicopter to Erie County Medical Center and pronounced dead. 
The victim's identity is being withheld until the person's family can be properly notified. 

Hall of Famer Jim Kelly says the Buffalo Bills are about to embark on a new era where the team again plays meaningful games in January.  Kelly visited Bills practice yesterday and spoke to the team.  It was Kelly's first public appearance since completing chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
