New York State is offering a new small loan program to assist homeowners on the brink of foreclosure.
Attorney General Eric Schniederman’s office announced the State Mortgage Assistance program this week. It will be open to the entire state in October.
Schniederman says loans of up to $40,000 could go to tax liens, second or third mortgages or back payments. He says it could help homeowners refinance their homes.
