An Orleans County candidate for the New York State senate has dropped out of the race after admitting to having an affair.
GOP Candidate Gia Arnold posted to her Facebook Page that she began an extra-marital affair earlier this month as an escape from what she described as an already declining marriage.
Arnold was running for the 62nd State Senate seat held by George Maziarz, who is not seeking re-election.
The 62nd district runs from Niagara Falls to Brockport and includes all of Orleans County.
That leaves two candidates in the race:
Conservative Rob Ortt , the mayor of North Tonawanda and Democrat Johnny Destino, a lawyer from Niagara Falls.

A 12-year-old girl is recovering after falling from the Sky Flyer ride at the Erie County Fair. Police say the girl wasn't strapped in when the ride started to move. The ride got about ten feet off the ground when the girl fell and broke her arm.
Authorities say the ride operator thought he had checked every person on the ride before starting it up.
Genesee County STOP-DWI committee has announced that they have an app for that.
It is an app for an i-phone or android device designed to help people make a plan to get home safely if they have been drinking.
The app allows you to pre-load a list of designated drivers, find a cab via GPS, it has an alcohol estimator and can even test your motor skills.
The “Have a Plan app” is available for free HERE.
